In the CBCS system, each course is assigned a certain number of credits based on its complexity, depth, and workload. Students are required to accumulate a specific number of credits to complete their degree program. The credits earned by students are based on their performance and achievement of learning outcomes in each course.
Previously, the duration of undergraduate courses was typically three years, and the honors degree was awarded in the final year upon successful completion of the program. Examinations were traditionally held at the end of each academic year to assess students' progress.
However, with the implementation of the new Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), significant changes have been introduced.
The new CBCS system has brought about the following changes:
Yes, The Patliputra University syllabus has undergone a complete change. Now, instead of traditional grades, a new credit score system has been introduced. Every semester, students can earn a maximum of 20 credits, and over the course of 8 semesters, they can accumulate a total of 160 credits. This new system may seem confusing at first, but it essentially means that students need to aim for the highest credit score possible to achieve better results. Credits can be earned through attendance, theory papers, and practical papers. So, attending classes regularly and performing well in exams and practical assignments will help students earn more credits and improve their overall scores.
The Honours and Subsidiary papers have been replaced or eliminated in the new college education system. The Patliputra University syllabus now includes new course papers such as Major Core (MJC), Minor Core (MIC), Multidisciplinary Course (MDC), Ability Enhancement Course (AEC), Skill Enhancement Course (SEC), and Value Added Course (VAC). These new course papers have been introduced to provide a more comprehensive and diverse learning experience for students.
